About- The NDA & NA (II) Examination 2025 is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit candidates for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Naval Academy (INA). Exam Pattern

The NDA & NA (II) exam consists of two papers, both conducted on the same day, with objective-type questions (MCQs):

1. Mathematics

  • Total Marks: 300
  • Duration: 2½ hours
  • Medium: English and Hindi
  • Topics Include: Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, Probability, Geometry, Matrices & Determinants

2. General Ability Test (GAT)

  • Total Marks: 600
  • Duration: 2½ hours
  • Sections:
    • Part A (English): 200 Marks
    • Part B (General Knowledge): 400 Marks
      • Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Affairs
  • Medium: English and Hindi (except for English section)

Marking Scheme

  • Each correct answer earns marks.
  • One-third (⅓) of the marks are deducted for each wrong answer.

SSB Interview (Stage 2)

Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for the SSB Interview, which includes:

  1. Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT)
  2. Stage II: Psychological Tests, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Personal Interview, and Conference
  • SSB Marks for NDA/NA: 900 Marks

Final Selection

  • Final merit list is prepared based on combined scores of Written Exam and SSB Interview.
  • Selected candidates undergo 3-year military training at NDA, followed by specialized training at IMA, AFA, or INA depending on the chosen wing.

  • Keep up with current affairs and general knowledge.
  • Improve English grammar and vocabulary.
