Bombay High Court Clerk Recruitment 2025 – Apply Online for 1332 Clerk Posts at Mumbai, Nagpur & Aurangabad Benches

The High Court of Judicature at Bombay invites online applications from eligible candidates for preparation of Select List and Wait List for the post of Clerk, for the Principal Seat at Bombay and its Benches at Nagpur & Aurangabad.
The lists will remain valid for 2 years from the date of publication.

🔹 Post Details

Post Name: Clerk

Pay Matrix- S-10: ₹29,200 – 92,300/- + allowances

Note: PwD posts will be filled after guidelines are framed by the High Court.

Eligibility Criteria

🔹 Age Limit (as per category)

Educational Qualifications

A candidate must:

✔ Hold a University Degree (Preference to Law Graduates)

✔ Have passed English Typing 40 w.p.m.

Valid certificates accepted:

• Government Commercial Certificate (GCC – Typing)
• ITI Typing
• GCC-TBC (MSCE)

Candidates who passed GCC-TBC 40 wpm are exempted from producing a separate computer proficiency certificate.

✔ Computer Knowledge

Candidates must have either:
(a) Govt. recognized computer qualification (as per IT Dept. GR 2013 & 2018), OR
(b) Certificate of proficiency in computer operations from:

• Maharashtra/Goa State Board of Technical Education
• NIC
• APTECH
• NIIT
• C-DAC
• DATAPRO
• SSI
• BOSTON
• CEDIT
• MS-CIT
• Universities under Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994

Other Essential Conditions

Candidate must:

• Be an Indian citizen domiciled in Maharashtra
• Have good character and no criminal history
• Not have more than two living children born after 28 March 2005
• Not have more than one living spouse
• Be able to read, write, and speak Marathi
• Provide NOC if working in Court/Govt. office

Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

1️⃣ Screening Test – 90 Marks (Minimum Passing: 45)

Objective MCQs in:

• Marathi – 10
• English – 20
• General Knowledge – 10
• General Intelligence – 20
• Arithmetic – 20
• Computer – 10

Failing the Screening Test disqualifies the candidate from the Typing Test.

2️⃣ Typing Test – 20 Marks (Minimum Passing: 10)

• 10 minutes
• 400-word English passage
• Conducted on computer only

Failing in Typing Test = Not eligible for Clerk post.

3️⃣ Viva-Voce – 40 Marks

Final merit = Screening Test + Typing Test + Viva-Voce.

Syllabus for Screening Test

Marathi: Grammar, sentence construction, vocabulary

English: Grammar, spelling, usage, sentence formation

GK: Daily events, prominent personalities, history & geography of India, especially Maharashtra

General Intelligence: Reasoning & quantitative aptitude

Arithmetic: Basic math (add/subtract/multiply/divide), percentages, decimals

Computer: Basic computer awareness

Application Fee

• ₹1000/- (non-refundable)
• Pay only through SBI Collect online gateway
• Applications without successful fee payment will not be considered

How to Apply (Online Only)

1.     Visit: https://bombayhighcourt.nic.in

2.     Go to Recruitment → Clerk → Apply Online

3.     First pay the ₹1000/- fee via SBI Collect → obtain reference number

4.     Fill the online form using correct details

5.     Upload:

o    Passport-size photo (max 40 KB, JPG/JPEG)

o    Signature (max 40 KB)

6.     Select only one establishment:

o    Bombay / Nagpur / Aurangabad
No change allowed later

7.     Submit the form → note the Registration ID

8.     Print the application → paste photo → sign with black pen
(Do NOT send by post; keep for verification)

Only the LAST submitted application will be considered.

Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates must produce originals + self-attested copies of:

• Date of Birth proof
• SSC, HSC, Graduation, Law, PG mark sheets & certificates
• Typing Certificate (40 w.p.m.)
• Computer Certificate (if applicable)
• Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• Maharashtra domicile certificate
• Character Certificates (2 persons, not relatives)
• NOC (if Govt./Court employee)
• Employment Exchange Registration (if any)
• Gazette/Marriage Certificate (if name changed)
• Any additional documents as required

Important Instructions

• Information entered in the application form is final
• No correction requests will be accepted
• Incomplete/incorrect applications will be rejected
• Candidates must appear for all tests at their own cost
• Hall Ticket must be printed from the website
• High Court may change/postpone/cancel the exam at any stage
• Attempts to influence the selection process result in disqualification
• Eligibility is decided after verification; false information = termination

Select List & Wait List

• Prepared based on Screening + Typing + Viva-Voce
• Valid for 2 years
• Wait List used only if Select List candidates do not join/resign
• Any candidate furnishing false information will be removed

Probation & Appointment

• Initial probation: 2 years
• Appointment subject to:
• Medical fitness
• Police verification
• Services may be terminated at any time during probation without notice
