Short Information : The Regional News Unit (RNU), Doordarshan Kendra, Chennai, under Prasar Bharati, has released the Stringer Empanelment Notification 2025 on 19 December 2025. Applications are invited from qualified and experienced electronic journalists and news camerapersons for empanelment as Stringers to cover news across all 38 districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry/Karaikkal (UT).
Eligible candidates who are residents of the respective district must submit their applications in offline mode along with the prescribed processing fee. The last date for submission is 17 January 2026 (5:00 PM).

- Maximum 2 Stringers per district / major town
- Waiting list will be maintained for each district as per Prasar Bharati norms
Eligibility Criteria – Doordarshan Chennai Stringer 2025
Educational & Professional Qualification
- Academic details (School / College / University) must be provided
- Degree/Diploma in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Videography, Cinematography is desirable
- Mandatory professional experience as:
- Cameraperson
- News Cameraperson
- Videographer
- Electronic Journalist / Newsman
- Details of assignments during the last one year must be mentioned
Equipment & Infrastructure Requirements
Applicants must own the following equipment:
- Professional video camera (Full HD / 4K / UHD / NX format)
- Required accessories, connectors & interfacing equipment for DSNG/Live units
- Smartphone with 4G/5G SIM, data pack & card reader for instant file transfer
- Proof of ownership for all equipment (originals verified during interview)
- Ownership of a four-wheeler vehicle and mobile phone is preferable
Residency Requirement
- Applicant must reside in the district for which empanelment is sought
Selection Process – Doordarshan Chennai Stringer 2025
The selection will be conducted strictly as per Prasar Bharati guidelines:
1. Preliminary Scrutiny of applications
2. Test Coverage – Two assignments using own equipment
3. Personal Interview
4. Physical Verification of documents & equipment
5. Final Empanelment by the Selection Committee
