Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold:
- A Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution, OR
- Passed Sections A & B of Institution of Engineers (India), OR
- Equivalent qualifications such as Graduate Membership of IETE, AMIE, or approved foreign engineering degrees recognized by the Government.

(Each category covers multiple Central Government Services such as Central Engineering Services, Border Roads Engineering Service, Indian Railway Management Service, Indian Skill Development Service, Indian Naval Material Management Service, Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service, and more).
UPSC ESE Salary & Pay Scale
- Entry Level (Junior Engineer): ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 (7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-10)
- Senior Scale: ₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700 (Level-11/12)
- Chief Engineer / Director Level: ₹1,18,500 – ₹2,14,100 (Level-13/13A)
- Top Administrative Posts: ₹1,44,200 – ₹2,18,200 (Level-14 and above)
Salary includes allowances like DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, Medical Benefits, Pension etc.
