Short Information : National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Kochi, under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has released the CSIR-NIO Kochi Apprenticeship Notification 2026. The notification was issued on 7 January 2026 for Technician (Diploma) and Graduate (Non-Engineering) Apprentices under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961.

A total of 14 apprenticeship vacancies are available. Eligible candidates who have completed their qualification in 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 can attend the walk-in interview on 22 January 2026 at the CSIR-NIO Regional Centre, Kochi.

CSIR-NIO Kochi Apprenticeship Apply Process 2026

Step 1: Mandatory NATS Registration

Candidates must register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal before attending the interview.

• Visit: https://nats.education.gov.in
• Click on Student → Student Register
• Complete registration and generate Unique Enrollment ID

Step 2: Prepare Application & Documents

• Download and fill the application form from the notification / www.nio.res.in
• Paste one passport-size photograph
• Keep original certificates + one set of self-attested copies

Step 3: Attend Walk-In Interview

• Date: 22 January 2026
• Reporting Time: 09:00 AM
  (No entry after 10:00 AM)

A. Educational Qualification

• Technician Apprentice: 3-year Diploma in relevant engineering trade
• Graduate Apprentice:
• Oceanography: Bachelor’s degree in Science
• General Admin: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

✅ Passing Year: 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 only

B. Age Limit (as on 22-01-2026)

C. Age Relaxation

• SC/ST: 5 Years
• OBC (NCL): 3 Years
• PwBD:
• General: 10 Years
• OBC: 13 Years
• SC/ST: 15 Years

Other Conditions

• NATS registration is compulsory
• Should not have prior apprenticeship training
• Should not have 1 year or more work experience

CSIR-NIO Kochi Apprenticeship Stipend 2026
