The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, invites eligible Indian nationals to attend Walk-in Selections for the post of Fire Safety Officer on a contractual basis.

🎯 Job Role & Responsibilities
The Fire Safety Officer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Staying on campus or being able to reach within 5–10 minutes during emergencies
- Maintenance of fire hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, and portable fire appliances
- Conducting Fire & Safety drills in laboratories, hostels, academic blocks, dining halls, workshops, and residential areas
- Maintaining records related to drills, fire extinguisher servicing, safety hazards, and firefighting systems
- Testing and documenting operational readiness of sprinkler systems
- Preparing fire safety contingency plans and emergency evacuation plans
- Preparing and maintaining incident reports with analysis and corrective measures
- Weekly inspection of minor firefighting systems and monthly inspection of major systems
- Organizing fire safety awareness programs and lectures
- Ensuring fire safety compliance in laboratories, including chemical disposal and OHAS practices
- Submitting monthly fire & safety system reports to the Director’s Office
- Providing emergency signage, caution boards, and safety notices across the campus
🎓 Essential Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications:
- B.E. (Fire Engineering) from National Fire Service College, Nagpur with 2 years’ experience in high-rise fire safety + ADIS certificate
OR
- Divisional Officer Course from National Fire Service College, Nagpur with 5 years’ experience in high-rise fire safety + ADIS certificate
OR
- B.E./B.Tech in Fire Engineering / Safety & Fire Engineering / Fire Technology & Safety Engineering with 2 years’ experience + ADIS certificate
OR
- B.Sc. + Station Officer Course from National Fire Service College, Nagpur with 5 years’ experience + ADIS certificate
OR
- Higher Secondary + Sub-Fire Officer Course from National Fire Service College, Nagpur with 5 years’ experience + ADIS certificate
OR
- B.Sc. + Graduate ship in Fire Engineering (GIFE) from Institution of Fire Engineers (India/UK) with 5 years’ experience + ADIS certificate
⭐ Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in Central/State Government organizations, industries, or reputed educational institutions
- Mandatory working knowledge of computers
- Minimum 3-month computer certification or IT-related subject at graduation or above
📋 General Instructions
- Applicant must be an Indian citizen
- Eligibility will be determined as on 27 January 2026
- Working hours: 8 hours per day, 6 days a week, including weekends/holidays if required
- Contractual employees are not entitled to campus accommodation (may be considered in exceptional cases)
- Selected candidates must submit medical fitness certificate and health insurance policy at own cost
- Candidates currently employed must submit relieving letter at the time of joining
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in selection
- Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification
- Legal disputes, if any, shall be subject to Telangana High Court jurisdiction
